Accessing and Navigating around i-pinpoint
- After opening i-pinpoint, you
will be presented with the log-in form. Type in your User Name and Password
(these have not changed).
- A 'Vessel Information Display'
box will open with the last position of your vessel/s displayed.
To view previous positions without going to the map, click on 'Select All
Vessels' or highlight the vessel required, then click on 'Display Vessel Log'.
A Date Selection box will open.
Either select a specific date, or click 'Select number of previous days' and
type in the number required, then click 'Display'.
The 'Vessel Log' box opens with the required position data.
- This information can be saved
as a text document by clicking on 'Export to CSV'.
Minimise the 'Vessel Log' form and the 'Save As...' form allows you to save
the data in the required directory and folder.
- To view the map, click on 'Display
Map View'.
- To view vessel/s tracks, check
'Mark Tracks' at the bottom of the screen for the vessel required.
Type in the number of previous days, or select a specific date, then click
OK.
The reported positions, speed and date/time are listed in the Downloaded Boat
Information form table.
Click OK and the map will appear with the tracks for the vessel.
Repeat this process for any other vessels to display.
- To Zoom In or Out, click on the
Zoom Bar until the required map view is reached.
- To view the information for a
particular position, hold the cursor over the position required and double
click.
An information box will appear with the date and time, co-ordinates and speed.
- If the Zoom Bar and Vessel Information
are not visible on the screen, double click in the menu bar at the top of
the i-pinpoint program window or click and drag upwards until the bottom of
the window is visible.
For Windows XP users:
To run i-pinpoint, Java Virtual Machine (Java VM) is required,
which is no longer automatically provided with Microsoft software.
To obtain this software, follow the link : Microsoft's
Windows Update Website: ie6 downloads.
Once downloaded:
- Restart the computer, right click on Internet Explorer
(or the equivalent browser) and go to Properties.
- Click on the Advanced Tab and scroll down until the
Java VM or Microsoft VM items are viewed.
- Make sure all boxes are ticked. If the boxes need to
be ticked, the computer will have to be restarted again.
- If, once this procedure has been followed, you cannot
access i-pinpoint, you may need to download the XP Service Pack 1 available
on Microsoft's
Windows Update Website.
